MEGAKABUTERIMON WAS NOT AN INFLUENCE SO STOP COMMENTING ON HOW SIMILAR KABUTO LOOKS TO THE DIGIMON. HIS MAIN INFLUENCE WAS CRIMSON THUNDER RANGERS FROM POWER RANGERS: NINJA STORM, WHICH IS ALSO A RED HORNED BEETLE.

To think that by simply making up Azure, I ended up creating her whole family. Now because of that, I've created their whole community! Ever since I first saw Charmy Bee, I wanted to see more bug-like Sonic characters. Sadly, that dream never came true on it's own. So I made it come true!

Kabuto and Kuwaga will be a homage to Power Rangers Ninja Storm, the series of Power Rangers that I grew up on, aside from the very first one of course (Go Go Power Rangers!). I remember waking up every morning and watching an episode before going to school back in like 4th grade or something. Of the characters, the Thunder Rangers were my favorite. So Kabuto is based on the Crimson Thunder Ranger/Hunter Bradley.

Name: Kabuto the Beetle (real name: Hunter Tilasm)

Age: 21

Species: Rhinoceros beetle

Affiliations: Tilasm family

Family: Kuwaga the Beetle (younger twin brother)

Personality: Kabuto is rather brooding and doesn't really like the idea or prospect of working with anyone other than Kuwaga. Though he can come off as rather harsh and mean, he has a warm heart and only has good intentions. He is very serious about practicing his talisman magic and dislikes it when his training is interrupted.

Abilities: Born into the Tilasm family, Kabuto is a skilled user of talisman magic. Kabuto's specialty lies in activating several talismans at once, due to his high stamina. He carves his talismans, like everyone else in his family, out of the shells of their own exoskeleton. With his wings, he is capable of flying.

Background: The Tilasm family was one of the few surviving families in the Mythsetia Veil following the events of the Great Purge, which wiped out a majority of the Veil's population. Led by the head of the Mythos family and tribe chief, the Tilasm family and other six surviving families ventured to the underground catacombs where they continued living in secret. Born Hunter, he later took on the name Kabuto as an alias. Kabuto and his younger fraternal twin brother Kuwaga are now all that remains of the Tilasm family. He has grown up alongside his brother all his life and has become very protective of him as well as dependent, getting rather uncomfortable when Kuwaga is not which him.

eh well it's not hard to tell you got the name idea from Kabuto and Kabutops from Pokemon, but that's okay. Excellent design

His name actually comes from "kabutomushi" which means Japanese rhinoceros beetle; the same applies to his brother Kuwaga, deriving from "kuwagatamushi" for stag beetle. The origin of and Kabuto's and Kabutops' name is actually derived from a type of helmet called "kabuto". So technically they don't have the same name origin.

I see. Well that actually explains a lot, but you can see where I'm coming from with my logic. I actually thought Kabuto and Kabutops were derived from that very translation as well as your character, but I guess I was wrong. Still, weird how they have such similar names.

I also had a pair of Sonic characters who were a rhino beetle & stag beetle, but they were based more off of Boomer Kuwanger & Gravity Beetle from the MegaMan X series than PR Ninja Storm.

And they didn't look this buggy, they looked more like Espio or Sonic with beetle motifs than being outright insectoid like your two. Still, great designs all around!

You're like three months late with that comment. If you read the comments, you will see that the main influence was Crimson Thunder Ranger, which also happens to sport a red horned beetle design.
