Dezmodus Cruour the Bat, 21, is one of the last living descendant of Cruour and the younger brother of Daemus. Unlike his brother, Dez has always been impatient and stubborn, especially when it came to his blood magic training. During a practice match, Dez accidently ingested some of Daemus' blood and discovered the power that came with blood consumption. However, the sensation was highly addicting and also caused extreme mental degeneration. Dez's mind has been rendered broken and he is no longer capable of rational thought. Now driven solely by a feral nature and an irrepressible desire and hunger for blood, Dez is hunted by his own brother, who is determined to save Dez from himself. However, each time they have clashed, Dez has been able to escape due to the power boost granted to him by blood consumption and his possession of the Dagger of Cruour, which allows him to endlessly multiply blood from the smallest amount.

Name origin: Desmodus rotundi aka common vampire bat

With Dezmodus, I wanted him to look like his brother, Daemus. They are brothers after all so they should look alike. But most importantly, I wanted Dez's design to reflect the insanity that plagues him now because of his addiction to blood consumption. And I didn't leave it at just messy hair and tattered clothes. I wanted his clothes to be blood stained and dirty because that's realistic with him. Dez literally does not have the mental capacity to be concerned with personal grooming. And I wanted his design to reflect that.

Vision: The theme of insanity was what you were going for, and insanity is clearly drawn. Everything about this guy is messy, sharp, dark, and just plain crazy. All across his body are scar lines and blood smears, adding to that effect. Those tears in his wings, ear, and clothes make him all the more threatening and terrifying. And yes I use the word terrifying because that's what he is. His tongued toothy smile make him all the more creepy and makes it more believable that he is completely out of his mind. The last thing to add is his level of intimidation, which mostly come from his attire. The red and white vested trench coat, spiked wrist gauntlets, and studded boots sell the intimidation factor. Being intimidating and terrifying are two separate things in my book, but both are captured well here.

Originality: Among your characters and among Sonic characters in general, this guy scores high. This is probably the first time I've seen a character as crazy and messy as this guy. One thing that I noticed upon close inspection is that his pupils seem dilated and narrowed all at once. I know that's strange, but it was somehow pulled off. Since this blood consumption has an addicting effect, it is fitting since dilated pupils sometimes happen when an individual is high on some substance. But then they appear narrowed and focused, as if he's looking at his next victim. Also, again with the torn clothes, this is something I haven't seen in my experience with Sonic characters. The only thing that would have possibly shot this up to a 4.5 or a 5 would be to add one more set of blood stains around his mouth area. I say this because if oral consumption is his primary means of consuming blood, it would make sense that his muzzle, lips, and teeth would be stained red from regular feeding.

Technique: You outdid yourself this time. The blood stains on his clothes and fur are shaded nicely so that they do look like blood stains and not simply blood spots (if that makes sense). The tears in his clothes look varied enough to make it almost look like he might have torn them in different ways and in different circumstances. Aside from the blood spots, I'd like to mention the darker marks in his fur. Shades are good and actually look like blotches of dirt that he neglected to wash out. Finally, the blood spikes and blobs he's got going above his hand are nicely drawn. The three jagged spikes look like hard red crystals and the small blobs around them look like liquid. The talent shown here with how you can style solid and liquid blood is demonstrated perfectly here, as I can generally tell which ones are solid and which ones are liquid.

Impact: This guy speaks to me on many levels. His eyes look at me with an insatiable and unending hunger that would frighten me if he were really in the room with me. His clothes tell a story of a wild creature with no regards for personal cleanliness. His mottled fur makes me think of a rabid beast that only lives to hurt others. His fanged smile chills me to the core. The spikes on his wrists gauntlets and boots tell me that he is a creature that cares little for the suffering of his victims, as he would most likely use them to inflict harm and cause them to bleed.

Personal Thoughts: I mentioned that his brother has the look of Virgil from Devil May Cry...well even though Dez here has a white trench coat with red trimmings, I still think of Devil May Cry. This is probably what would happen to Dante if he went crazy and just went on a killing spree. I mentioned that Garnett was scary because he had that regal authority mixed with intimidation. Well this guy's wild animal look scares me in a different way. In Garnett's case, I see him as one that people fear to stand up to. This guy scares me in the way that I would not want to meet him in a dark alley...or at all for that matter. You have demonstrated your skills yet again and really surpassed them.
