Arka the Eagle, 48, is the last living descendant of Sol and the husband of Chang-O the Rabbit. He is strong, bold and brash and wields the Chakram of Sol, his family's sacred relic. While his wife is the more mature and calm of the two , Arka is her opposite though he often yields to whatever she says. He can manipulate solar energy, magnetism and portals. Arka can create only 2 portals at a maximum distance from himself and only large enough to fit anything his size of less. He is stronger in the presence of sunlight and can use his magnetism manipulation to lift things while also flying with his wings. During an eclipse, Arka enters a "Black Sun" mode in which his power is nearly doubled and his magical aura turns black.

Arka went through a few ups and downs. Two instances when I was working on him, I didn't like how it was going, but as I put some more work into it, I started to like it again. Arka's design was intended to reflect the opposite traits of that in Chang's. While Chang was soft and tender, Arka was intended to be sharp and very masculine. I made him taller and broader to emphasize this and caked him in armor while also making his arms long since eagles have hella wing span :3

Name origin: Sanskrit name meaning "sun".

Vision: "Does the artwork present or reflect a point of view, theme or idea?" The themes I see here are sharpness, royalty, and even god-like. I can identify him as a bald eagle, an animal often admired for its beauty and almost majestic appeal. It is often a symbol of power, to which Arka does have; both magically and potentially politically. His outfit also reminds me of the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt, with the gold and the tan coloring mixed with the extravagant and detailed design of his armor and clothes. Sticking with the Egyptian idea, gold was often seen as a symbol of royalty in the ancient empire, and Arka is practically swimming in the color gold, from his clothes to his weapon. Finally, the cape. Capes in both history and mythology have been depicted as royal, even in some Egyptian mythologies. But I see one more thing in his headdress. The way the wings are placed makes me think of Marvel Comic's Thor, who is based on the god of the same name from Norse mythology. While I know this guy has nothing to do with thunder, lightning, or electricity, the helmet almost gives him that god-like appearance.

Originality: "Is the artwork fresh or new in its style, execution or approach? Is it something you haven't seen before in its particular genre? Does it surprise you?" Seeing another bird in your group is always welcomed. He does have some things that separate him from the others though. By his body proportions in comparison, he is noticeably taller and more built; very adult-like. His beak is also longer than the others. This is appropriate, as eagles are noted for having long beaks among many other raptor types. Also the decision to dress an eagle in what I see as an Egyptian motif is a clever blend of western and eastern culture.

Technique: "Was the artwork skillfully created? Does the artist exhibit advanced knowledge of the medium and/or bring special focus to the craft of the medium used?" This is absolutely beautiful. There is a lot happening here. His chest and shoulders are caked in blues, yellows, and tans. his legs are practically all gold, Also the fact his lower cloth pants or whatever that is called is white with a sun emblem on them. However, his cape's color seems a bit questionable to me. It is a darker brown than his wing, but I find that sometimes, the arm can seem to get lost in that color scheme. It's nothing too big and most probably won't see it that way, but I just wanted to make you aware of this minor thing.

Impact: "Does the artwork resonate with you or evoke strong emotions? Does it make you think? Does it blow your mind?" Now I'd like to touch on a few other things. The authoritative theme is driven home with this guy with a few other more subtle features. His stance speaks to me. It tells of one who is powerful, skilled, but also wise. The fact he is in a defensive and not aggressive stance is what clues me into this idea. But his eyes are what pierce me. His stance may be disarming but stalwart, his eyes stare into my soul. They are eyes of a warrior; one who knows hardship and will hurt you if you get on his bad side.

Personal Thoughts: The contrast you went for to differentiate Arka from Chang-O was captured well here. Chang-O was disarming and soothing, Arka is imposing and intimidating. While I did say his stance was not threatening, that does not mean I would not be wary of him while in his presence. not our of fear, but out of respect. He definitely stands out in a crowd. pair that with him being an eagle wearing Egyptian attire with a hat reminiscent of a Norse god...and you have a symbol or royalty and authority. I find myself quite interested to find out more about this guy. Regarding the fact he is married to Chang-O, I do have to say I find the idea cool and odd at the same time. Now I know these are not typical animals, but i find the fact that what is usually seen as a predator/prey relationship now turned into one of matrimony in your universe.
